Yan Antonyshev was born in 1965 in the city of Saint Petersburg.
In 1981 Yan and his friends founded an artist collective called “Old Town People” which was focused around capturing the historical essence of Saint Petersburg and other cities around the world.
In 1985 he graduated from the restoration department of the Art College named after V. Serov (now named after N. Roerich) and received an artist’s studio from the Union of Russian Artists.
Yan has been exhibiting his work since 1990 in Russia and around the world. His works are exhibited in the Neue Pinakothek in Munich, are in the collections of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, museums and galleries of Russia, as well as in private collections in Russia, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Scotland, France, South Korea, USA, Canada, etc.
